Polar Panoramas

The first step is creating your image:
First make sure your camera battery is charged. Then go to a very beautiful place with just the right amount of sky and land. Take at least 10 photos that are vertical moving from left to right, with a 15% overlap. Next edit your photos. Create your panorama in photoshop. The last step is polarizing your image.

Definitions:
  1. Composite- Each image becomes pie shaped and connects to the next while rotating around the finished product.
  2. Polar- Joining the north and south ends of a panorama and bringing either sides together.
  3. Spherical- Forming your panoramic image into the shape of a sphere.
  4. Panorama- A photograph or image that contains a wide view made up of many images.

Then we used the Quick Selection tool:

Make a copy Of your layer to make it unlocked (command J). Click on the quick selection tool. (fourth one down). Then,“Paint” over the part of the picture you want to keep with the quick selection tool. Then click the minus button to erase the part of the picture you do not want to keep. Then click refine edge to expand or contract and smooth or feather the selection. The last step is copy and paste your selection onto a new layer.

            Spherical Panoramas

Using a digital camera provided by Mr.Sanderl we took a minimum of 10-15 images in a 360 degree rotation with a 10%-15% overlap. Next we did a batch edit in Adobe Camera Raw to improve the quality of our images. Then we used Photoshop to create a photomerge with our images, this created a panoramic image.

Next, the rectangular 360 degree panorama was resized to be square and filtered using Polar Coordinates. Lastly, the final spherical panoramas were selected using the elliptical marquee and feathered by refining the the edge. A black or white background was applied before saving the finished the final composite image.

            All About Me

Hi, my name is Kaya Waldman. I was born on October 31, 2000! My middle name is Rain, yes the same kind of Rain that falls from the sky. I am the oldest of four siblings. Their names are Laila, Jaden, and Jamie. I live with my mom because my parents are divorced. I enjoy swimming, surfing, running, dancing, singing, and anything that has to do with nature. I am a student at Kapaa middle school, I really enjoy being in the G.T. program.

I was born in California, I moved to the island of Kauai when I was fourteen months old. I am thirteen now and my favorite thing to do is surf! Any free moment I get you can find me in the water. Surfing is my life. Everyday I surf, without it I would probably die. I attended All Saints Preschool, Kapaa Elementary, King Kamualii Elementary, And Kapaa Middle school so far. This is my last year at Kapaa Middle school, then its off to high school.

I really hope to become a professional Surfer when I grow up. I like going to school and learning new things each and every day. I will probably go the university of Hawaii Manoa.

            Final Photomontages

Here are my to finished Photomontages that were inspired by the famous photographer David Hockney, who first created what he called "Joiners". We all used digital cameras to take multiple images of an inspiring location, then we batch-edited our images using Adobe Camera Raw.
Next we compiled our finished composite image in Photoshop.

This is my finished magazine cover that I created in the Fall of 2013 at Kapa'a Middle school. I used Photoshop to create a multi-layered image that describes who I am.
